Barb is the secondary antagonist of The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants and its adaptations. She’s the successor to Lord Poltergeist as the Flying Dutchman's first mate.

Description

Barb is a green ghost fish with a similar appearance to both Incidental 47 and the Flying Dutchman. She has a tattered pirate hat with a feather, a ragged dress with a diagonal belt, a metal monocle on one eye, a hook for a hand, and a single boot on her left fin while her right fin is a lower leg & foot bone.

• Her name was revealed by Derek Drymon on April 25, 2024, in one of the work doodles he made during the film’s production.^[2]
• Her design was leaked on August 19, 2024.^[3]
• In Legend of the Lost Spatula, Mr. Krabs tells a legend to SpongeBob, which mentions the Flying Dutchman’s first mate burying the key to the ruined city of Palm Bay somewhere in the Goo Lagoon. It’s unknown if this is referring to Barb or Poltergeist.
