Paramount+ (formerly known as CBS All Access from 2014 to 2021) is an American streaming video service owned by Paramount Skydance Corporation. It offers original content, content newly aired on CBS's broadcast properties, and content from the Paramount Skydance library. In the United States, many markets offer a live stream of the local CBS affiliate's main channel.
After Viacom merged with CBS on December 4, 2019, the service started streaming SpongeBob SquarePants, along with other TV shows from ViacomCBS Domestic Media Networks, on July 30, 2020. On September 15, 2020, it was announced that CBS All Access would rebrand as Paramount+ in early 2021 as part of its expansion to feature content from ViacomCBS's other brands.[1][2]
On September 20, 2022, Paramount+ was closed down in Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland, with all Paramount+ subscribers in the aforementioned four countries migrated to the then–newly-launched SkyShowtime (which first launched in the Nordic countries); Paramount+ continues to remain available in the United States and its territories (with the exception of Puerto Rico), Canada, Spanish-speaking Latin America, Brazil, Germany, Austria, Swizterland, France, Italy and Australia.
The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run and Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years were released exclusively on Paramount+ on March 4, 2021 as launch titles in the United States. As of January 21, 2026, seasons 1-15 of SpongeBob SquarePants (except for "Mid-Life Crustacean") and seasons 1-3 of The Patrick Star Show are available on the service in the United States. On December 9, 2021, a "SpongeBob Universe" live channel was added, featuring episodes from SpongeBob SquarePants and Kamp Koral: SpongeBob's Under Years, as well as the movies.[3]
Trivia
General
A blue Nick screen bug to promote the streaming service.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Logo Nicktoons in Fullscreen (May 24, 2022)
- To promote the streaming service, the color of the Nickelodeon logo was turned blue. This change lasted from March 1 to March 5, 2021.
- Nearly a year later on February 17, 2022, to promote the arrival of Big Nate on Paramount+, the color of the Nick Pluto TV logo was turned blue.[4] This change only lasted on that one day.
- A different variant of this logo, this time with it inside of a golden ring, was used on May 24, 2022 to promote the arrival of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 on Paramount+.
- For the latter episode's content,[5] the episodes "The Great Snail Race" and "Mid-Life Crustacean" were taken off, though they were available for streaming prior to its rebranding on March 4, 2021. "The Great Snail Race" was missing for some time, but has since been re-added by itself as a stand-alone episode. Despite this, its thumbnail used an image from "Mid-Life Crustacean" for a while before being corrected.
- In at least the UK, both episodes are currently missing from the former service.
Errors
- "Your Shoe's Untied" is mistitled as "Your Shoe is Untied."
- The description for "Squid's Day Off" misspells “Squidward” as “Squiward.”
- Episodes from seasons 9-14 of SpongeBob and every season of The Patrick Star Show are in airing order rather than Nickelodeon's packaging order. This also happens with the Amazon Prime Video versions of those seasons.
- There are numerous airdate errors.
- For example, the service claims that "Help Wanted," "Reef Blower," and "Tea at the Treedome," premiered on April 30, 1999,[6] but those episodes actually first aired on May 1, 1999.
- Many episodes from other shows also have incorrect airdates.
"The Great Snail Race" with an incorrect thumbnail.
"The Great Snail Race" with a correct thumbnail.
Incorrect thumbnail for "The Nasty Patty/The Idiot Box."
- Several episodes have incorrect thumbnails:
- The thumbnail for "Nasty Patty"/"Idiot Box" is an image from "The Krusty Slammer."
- The thumbnail for "As Seen on TV"/"Can You Spare a Dime?" is an image from "Swamp Mates." Also, there is no question mark after the words "Can You Spare a Dime."
Incorrect thumbnail for "Handemonium"/"Breakin'."
- The thumbnail for "Handemonium"/"Breakin'" is an image from "SpongeBob in RandomLand."
It says "Spanish from Mexico."
- In the Latin American version of the service, the Spanish language is called "Spanish from Mexico," despite the fact that dubbing was done in Venezuela.
- This also occurred for other Nicktoons that were dubbed in Chile.
- However, this is not an error for other Nicktoons that were dubbed in Mexico.
- This also occurred for other Nicktoons that were dubbed in Chile.
